Find captures on the Capture tab, read what each one records, open scans in 3D or AR, share PLY, USDZ or LAS files, and delete what you don't need.

The Capture tab collects every photo, video and 3D scan in the active project in one place. Each capture has a detail screen showing what it is, how it was taken, where it sits on the earth and which asset it documents.

The Captures list

  • Captures appear newest first. Each tile is labelled with its asset's name. A cube icon marks a scan, and a play button marks a video.
  • The ALL, PHOTOS, VIDEOS and SCANS chips filter the list.
  • An Unfinished photo scan banner appears at the top when a photogrammetry job is waiting. See Photogrammetry.
  • With nothing captured yet, the tab shows No captures yet.

Capture details

The title says what the capture is: Photo, Video, Point cloud, Photogrammetry model or Mesh scan.

At the top is a preview. Tap it to Open a photo full screen, Play a video, or Open in 3D for a scan. Scans also have View in AR on devices that support AR.

Points Number of points in a point cloud
Model size Width × depth × height of a photogrammetry model, in metres
Vertices, Faces For older mesh scans
Engine What produced it, for example apple-points or apple-photogrammetry
Heading Which way the scan faces, in degrees, followed by where that came from: compass-true, compass-magnetic, gnss-track-fit or photogrammetry-fit. unknown — placed without rotation means the scan has a position but no orientation.
Pose ↔ GPS fit Photogrammetry only: how well the camera positions matched the photo fixes, and how many photos were used

Session (scans)

This section shows how the capture went. It's absent on scans taken before these records existed.

Tracking normal Share of the session with full tracking
Tracking recoveries Times tracking dropped and came back, if any
Captured surface Number of 10 cm cells containing points
Thin Share of those cells too sparse to measure from
Seen from How many of 12 directions the camera looked from
Keyframes Frames recorded with Record scan frames
Peak thermal Shown only if the device got warmer than normal

Any findings from the review, such as degraded tracking or one-sided coverage, are listed under the section.

Started with warnings

This section appears only when preflight flagged something and you went ahead. It lists each warning that stood, with the note: "These conditions were flagged before capture began and the capture was taken anyway."

Georeference (scans)

Row Meaning
Origin GPS lock at capture start, Existing marker, Fitted from shot positions or Live fix at capture
Latitude, Longitude The scan's origin
Height (MSL) Where known
Accuracy Horizontal accuracy of the origin
Source The position source, for example your receiver or the phone

If the scan was taken without any fix, it shows This scan has no position — it was captured without a fix.

Attached to

This section shows the asset the capture documents. Tap it to open the asset's details. For a line or area, Vertex (for example 2 of 5) and its Position are shown too. If the asset has since been deleted, it says The asset this capture belonged to is gone.

Actions

  • Share file shares the capture's main file: the photo, the video, points.ply, model.usdz or mesh.obj.
  • Export as LAS appears for point clouds only. It writes a georeferenced LAS in the project's coordinate system. See LiDAR point clouds.
  • Delete capture asks Delete this capture?: "The file is removed from this asset. This can't be undone."

When you're browsing a project that isn't the active one, capture details are read-only and Delete capture isn't offered.

The 3D viewer

Open in 3D opens the scan full screen. You can also tap a scan thumbnail in an asset's 3D scans section. You can orbit and zoom the model. The title shows the point count, vertex and face counts, or Photogrammetry model.

  • Done closes the viewer.
  • AR opens the scan in augmented reality. See View a scan in AR.
  • The menu offers:

Photos in bundle exports

A photogrammetry scan's source photos can run to hundreds of megabytes, so Export bundle (ZIP) leaves them out by default. Every scan folder still goes into the bundle's scans folder with its model, point cloud, georeference, shot log and quality records.

To include the source photos, turn on Settings → 3D capture → Photos in bundle exports. It's off by default. It has no effect on scans whose photos were removed with Keep photo-scan photos off.
