Add notes, attributes and photos
Fill in the asset form after a capture. Name, notes, the type's attribute fields, required fields and photos from the camera or library.

After you capture a point, finish a line or close an area, the app opens a form for that asset. This is where you name it, write notes, fill in the fields its type asks for and attach photos. Everything here travels with the asset into exports.
Before you start
- A captured position. The form opens by itself after a capture, unless Save without details is switched on (see Skip the form).
Fill in the form
The form's title is the type you're collecting, for example Manhole. Save is always at the top right, so you don't have to scroll to reach it.
- Name is filled in for you with the type name and the next number, for example Manhole 4. The number is one more than the highest number already used for that type in the project. Type over it if you like.
- Notes is free text, a few lines long. It's searchable in the asset list.
- Below the name and notes, a small line shows the Code and layer the asset will export with, for example Code MH · layer V-SSWR-MHOL.
- If the type has attribute fields, they appear in a section named after the type. Fill in what you know (see below).
- The next section is a read-only summary of what was measured (see The measurement summary).
- Under Photos, tap Library or Camera to attach photos (see below).
- Tap Save.
Attribute fields
Many types come with fields suited to them. A Manhole asks for rim and invert elevation, material, diameter and owner. A Tree asks for species, trunk diameter, canopy spread and condition. A Marker has none. Each field is shown as the right kind of control:

A few things to know about blank fields:
- Only values you actually enter are saved. An empty text box, or a pick list left on —, is recorded as blank.
- A yes / no switch you never touch is recorded as blank, not as "no". Flip it on and off again if you want to record "no".
- A date field shows today's date until you change it, but only a date you pick is saved.
Required fields
Fields marked with an asterisk (for example Depth of cover *) are required. If you tap Save with any of them blank, the app asks first: "… not filled in", with the note "These are marked required for a Manhole. Saving leaves them blank on the record."
- Save anyway saves the asset with those fields blank.
- Keep editing takes you back to the form.
The app never stops you saving. A blank required field shows as Required — blank on the asset's details, so it's easy to spot and fill in later.

The measurement summary
This section shows what you're about to save, so you can check it before you commit:

For points, Samples is 1 for a single fix, or the number of positions averaged.
Photos
- Library opens your photo library. You can pick up to 8 photos at a time. Tap it again to add more.
- Camera opens the camera to take a photo now. It only appears on devices with a camera.
Each photo appears as a thumbnail. Tap the ✕ on a thumbnail to remove it before you save. Photos are saved with the asset as JPEGs, scaled down to at most 2048 pixels on the long side. The asset's position is written into each photo, so the file still says where it was taken after you export it.
Add, view or delete photos later
Open the asset from the map or the list. Its Photos section shows the count and thumbnails, with the same Library and Camera buttons.
- On a line or area, first tap Capturing vertex and choose which vertex the photo documents. The photo buttons stay greyed out until you do.
- Tap a thumbnail to open the full-screen viewer. Swipe between photos; the title shows your place, for example 2 of 5. Tap Done to close it.
- To delete a photo, open it in the viewer and tap the trash icon, then Delete photo. The photo is removed from the asset and from the device.

Skip the form
The Save without details switch on the capture screen skips this form entirely. With it on, each capture saves straight away under the suggested name, with no notes, attributes or photos. The switch's subtitle shows the name it will use, for example Saves straight away as "Marker 12". Switch it off to get the form back.
This is handy for collecting many similar points quickly. You can add notes, fields and photos afterwards from each asset's details.
Cancelling
If you tap Cancel after a position has been measured, the app asks Discard this position?. "The measured position and anything typed on the form go with it." Tap Discard to throw it away, or Keep editing to go back. You can't swipe the form away by accident while it holds a measurement.
