Create a project
Start a new project, give it a name and choose the coordinate system its exports and imports use. You can change the system later.

A project is one job: one site, one set of assets, photos and scans. Everything you collect goes into the active project, so create a project before you head out. It takes a few seconds, and the only real decision is the coordinate system.
Create a project
You can start a new project from two places:
- Projects tab: tap New project at the bottom of the screen.
- Project strip (the dark bar above the tabs): tap it to open the switcher, then tap New project…. With no project yet, the strip is blue and reads No active project with START.
Then:
- In the New project sheet, check the Name. It's pre-filled with the date and time, for example 2026-09-11-14-30-05, so you can create and go. Type a job name or address if you prefer.
- Under Output coordinate reference system, tap the row (it starts on WGS 84) to choose your state plane or UTM zone. See Choose the coordinate system below.
- Tap Create.
The new project becomes the active project straight away, and the app takes you to the Survey tab, ready to collect. Create is greyed out while the name is blank. Tap Cancel to leave without creating anything.
Choose the coordinate system
Tapping the coordinate system row opens the Coordinate system list:
- WGS 84 (EPSG:4326 · latitude/longitude everywhere) is at the top. Choose it if you only need latitude and longitude.
- Zones lists every projected system the app knows: 455 of them, covering NAD83 state plane and UTM zones, WGS 84 UTM zones worldwide, and ETRS89 UTM zones. Each row shows the EPSG code, the projection (Transverse Mercator or Lambert Conformal Conic) and the linear unit: m, ft or ftUS (US survey feet).
- Search with the box at the top, for example New York or UTM 33N.
Tap a row to select it. A tick marks the current choice, and you go back to the New project sheet with the zone shown under the name, for example EPSG:2227 · ftUS.
What the coordinate system affects
The app always stores every position in WGS 84 latitude, longitude and height. The project's coordinate system is an output setting. It never changes what was measured.

| Display units | With display units set to Both, readouts show metres plus the zone's own foot, so a US survey foot zone shows US survey feet. |
| Project cards and details | The zone name is shown on the project's card and on its details screen. |
Change the coordinate system later
- Make sure the project is the active project.
- Go to Tools → Coordinate system. The row shows the current zone, or None for WGS 84.
- Choose a different zone (or WGS 84) and tap Done.
The change applies immediately. Because the data is stored in WGS 84, nothing moves on the map. Only the northing and easting you'll see in exports and readouts change. If you've already sent exports to someone, export again so they get the new coordinates.
