A tour of the app
The five tabs, the project strip, the accuracy pill and the Survey map controls. Learn where everything lives.
Every screen in OpenSurvey3D shares the same frame. Two parts of it are always on screen: the accuracy pill at the top right, which shows how well you're positioned, and the app bar at the bottom, which holds the active project and the five tabs.
The five tabs

| Projects | Browse, search, create, share and delete projects. Each project is one job. |
| Capture | Photos, videos and 3D scans attached to your assets. |
| Survey | The main map where you collect, view and select assets. The app opens here. |
| Tools | Import and export, stakeout, check shots, the QA report, offline maps, coordinate systems, COGO and other utilities. |
| Settings | Your name, receiver and precision settings, display units, the map cache, and Report a problem. |
The project strip
The dark bar just above the tabs shows the active project. Everything you collect goes into it.
- No project yet: the strip is blue and reads No active project with a START button. Tap it to create or choose one. Tapping Survey or Capture without a project opens the same chooser.
- With a project: the strip shows the project name, followed by the type you're collecting (for example 1215 Eunice Ave · Cabinet), the number of features, and SWITCH.
Tap the strip to open the switcher. It lists your four most recent projects, with ACTIVE next to the current one and a feature count next to the others, plus New project…. Tap a project to switch to it.
The small dot at the left of the strip is coloured by your current positioning quality, matching the accuracy pill.
The accuracy pill
The pill at the top right shows your position source and its accuracy at a glance, for example RTK FIXED ±0.013 m with a receiver, or a GPS reading of a few metres with the phone alone.
- Tap it to expand the solution toolbar: the source (GPS or RTK), the satellite count, the fix type, the correction age, horizontal (H) and vertical (V) accuracy, and with a receiver, HDOP and VDOP.
- Hold it, or tap ⋯ in the expanded toolbar, to open the full Precision sheet. That's where you connect a receiver and set up corrections.
Survey map controls
The row of buttons above the app bar, from left to right:
| Control | What it does |

| 2D / 3D | Switches between the flat map and the 3D site model on real terrain. |
| List (☰) | Shows your assets as a searchable, sortable list. Tap it again (it becomes a map icon) to go back to the map. |
| ⊕ (centre) | Collects an asset of the active type. If you haven't picked a type yet, it asks what you're collecting first. |
| Type | Shows the active type's icon. Tap it to change what you're collecting. |
| Crosshair | Turns on manual placement: the ⊕ drops a point at the map's centre instead of at your GPS position. Those points are recorded as manual. |
| Follow | Cycles between not following, following your location, and following with the map turned to your heading. In 3D it re-frames the view on you. |
A Level the map button appears when the map is tilted (two-finger drag). While you're recording a track, running auto capture or placing a line by hand, a small chip above the row shows the progress and a Stop or Finish button.
Tap a pin on the map to show its callout, then tap the callout to open that asset's details. See Map controls for more.
